A Course in Miracles Online

The Streets of San Miguel de Allende
Street-wise to Misery

Living in San Miguel I see little street children begging on the street every day, I can't help giving them my change. Their little smiles are worth it every time however I often get the line from my expat friends, "Robin you shouldn't do that, you are just encouraging them to stay in poverty"

I see their meaning but its a vicious circle here, what are these children supposed to do while we "discourage" poverty? They do not understand the political problems of their country, nor do they understand that unfortunately Mexico is still a very racist country, that being white or at least light skinned is a real advantage here.

I cannot NOT give these kids the money they ask for, I'm not sure what the entire answer to their problem is or even if there is one. So, making their day with a few coins seems to me, better than the absolutely NOTHING they would get otherwise.

I am asking you guys on behalf of these street kids to donate so that together we can give them something substantial.
